Commissioners & Assistant Commissioners

The Polk County Soil and Water Conservation District is managed by five commissioners elected on the general ballot in each county. Commissioners address the natural resource issues that are most critical in the county. Technical assistance is provided by the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship-Division of Soil Conservation.
The Commissioners meet every third Tuesday at 9:00 AM at the USDA Service Center in Ankeny.

Staff in the Polk Soil and Water Conservation District offices are employed by the local district, as well as state and federal agencies to protect the soil and water resources in Polk County. This includes the local Polk Soil and Water Conservation District Staff, Iowa Department of Agricultural and Land Stewardship- Division of Soil Conservation staff, and federal Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) staff.
