Conservation and Water Quality Award

Rich White, Executive Director of Iowa Limestone Producers Association, receives state award for dedication to soil and water conservation

Rich White, Executive Director of Iowa Limestone Producers Association, received the Division of Soil Conservation and Water Quality Award on August 30, 2016 at the 70th Annual Iowa Soil and Water Conservation District Commissioners Annual Conference at Prairie Meadows Conference Center in Altoona.

Rich has been Executive Director of the Iowa Limestone Producers Association (ILPA) for 17 years. He will retire later this year. There are many parallels between the Aggregate Mining Industry and the Agricultural community. Rich has been instrumental and supportive of Ag-lime research to develop better products for Farm Operators to sustain healthy productive soils. In addition, he has actively encouraged the ILPA to promote the inter-connections between Agriculture and the Aggregate Industry because many facilities are located in rural communities and share a common interest in the kinds of land development and urbanization that occurs. Rich’s support for a Mineral inspector within IDALS-DSCWQ demonstrates the mining industry’s serious interest in the permitting and reclamation efforts and to maintain the highest responsibility standards in Iowa’s mining industry.
